Free Credit Reports Now Available - A federal law recently passed now enables Louisianans to receive free reports annually from each of the three credit reporting bureaus, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. Your reports can be requested in writing, by phone or online. Of course, your report should be available to you sooner by accessing the following secure Web site- www.annualcreditreport.com.

Reviewing your credit card and loan statements prior to logging on will help better prepare you to answer questions the bureaus may ask to authenticate your inquiry. We encourage our members to take advantage of this offer. It can help detect identity theft and reduce delays in loan qualification, which may result from inaccurate reports. Because there are three separate agencies, some suggest requesting a report from one of the three bureaus every four months will enable you to check your credit all during the year.

Equifax - If you are interested in obtaining your free annual report, please refer to the section above on Free Credit Bureaus. If you already received your free report for the year and would like to order another one, click here to start the process of evaluating your credit through Equifax. For the basic report, there is a $9.00 fee. Equifax has various other options available.
