As a Friends Sponsor, Campus Federal supported the Second Annual Cancer Survivorship Walkathon, held at Betty Virginia Park in Shreveport on Saturday, May 13, 2023. This event was created by LSU Health Shreveport students to support the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.

“Survivor Saturdays” were organized to support participants to reach their exercise and health goals. Tanner Ward, a medical student at LSU Health Shreveport, created an opportunity where participants could celebrate friends and loved ones who have had encounters with cancer or to celebrate their “survivorship” thus the Annual Walkathon was born.

The Walkathon proceeds benefit the Wellness & Integrative Medicine Program at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. This Program offers extensive support to cancer survivors, including resources on mind, menu and movement to improve patient outcomes as they transition from treatment to a healthy lifestyle after cancer. More than 200 courageous survivors celebrated their recovery and more than $33,000 was raised for the Wellness & Integrative Support Fund at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Feist-Weiller Cancer Center at this year’s Walkathon.
